Guide to Destruction Staves





It should be noted that values shown below reflect the ability and/or morph once it is fully trained which sometimes differs from earlier costs, durations, or damage values. All costs and damage values here are without attribute points placed, without equipment, without passive skills acquired or active skills slotted and without champion points spent to make it easier to compare skills regardless of gear/build differences.

Since Mundus buffs can be changed but not removed, either no mundus buff was in place (template character on PTS) or the Lover mundus (which only alters penetration) was used.

Remember that if a skill costs Magicka, it scales with your maximum Magicka (and Spell Damage) while if a skill costs Stamina, it scales with your maximum Stamina (and Weapon Damage). Ultimate abilities and Synergies scale with the combination that provides you with the best offensive stats.




Weapon Skills: Destruction Staves

Morph Option 1 Crushing Shock Enemies hit while casting are also interrupted, set Off Balance, and Stunned for 3 seconds. 2700 Magicka
Morph Option 2 Force Pulse Deals more elemental damage (248 instead of 224) and hits up to 2 nearby enemies with 310 Magic Damage if they were already affected by Burning, Chilled, or Concussion status effects. 2700 Magicka
4 Wall of Elements
(AoE: 18 x 8 meters)
Create an elemental barrier before you, dealing enemies in the area 198 Magic Damage every 1 second for 6 seconds and an additional elemental effect: Wall of Fire deals extra damage to Burning enemies, Wall of Storms sets Concussed enemies Off Balance, Wall of Frost reduces movement speed by 40% and immobilizes Chilled enemies. 3510 Magicka
Morph Option 1 Unstable Wall

When the wall expires, it also explodes for 318 Magic Damage. 3240 Magicka
Morph Option 2 Elemental Blockade
(AoE: 18 x 12 meters)
The barrier is 50% larger and now lasts 8 seconds (33% longer). 3240 Magicka
5 Tri Focus Flame Heavy Attacks deal 6% more damage. Shock Heavy Attacks hit nearby enemies for 50% of the damage dealt to the main target. Frost Heavy Attacks taunt the enemy to attack you for 15 seconds and grant a shield which absorbs 349 damage. Also, blocking consumes magicka instead of stamina if a frost staff is equipped. Passive
10 Penetrating Magic Destruction Staff abilities bypass 5% of enemy Spell Resistance. Passive
14 Destructive Touch
(range: 15 meters)
Deals 477 Magic Damage then another 610 Magic Damage over 8 seconds. Also applies a status effect based on the type of staff: Flame Touch Knocks Back and applies the Burning status effect, Shock Touch Stuns, and applies the Concussed status effect, or Frost Touch deals 80% more damage, immobilizes and applies the Chilled status effect. 2970 Magicka
Morph Option 1 Destructive Clench Flame Clench also deals damage over time. Shock Clench also damages nearby enemies. Frost Clench immobilizes for longer with a reduced cost of 1485 Magicka and applying Major Maim for 5 seconds when at skill rank IV. ??? Magicka
Morph Option 2 Destructive Reach

Increases the range from 15 meters to 28 meters. ??? Magicka
17 Penetrating Magic II Destruction Staff spells bypass 10% of enemy Spell Resistance. Passive

Inflicts Major Breach for 21 seconds (24 seconds if morphed). none
Morph Option 1 Elemental Susceptibility The debuff lasts for 1 minute. While active, the target is afflicted with Burning, Chilled, or Concussion every 6 seconds. 25 Elemental Force Increase the chance of applying Burning, Concussion, or Chilled status effects by 50% if a destruction staff is equipped. Passive
28 Ancient Knowledge A flame staff increases damage with single-target abilities by 5%. A lightning staff increases damage with Area of Effect abilities by 5%. A frost staff increases the damage you can block by 10% and reduces the cost of blocking by 18%. Passive
30 Elemental Force II Increase the chance of applying Burning, Concussion, or Chilled status effects by 100% if a destruction staff is equipped. Passive
34 Tri Focus II Flame Heavy Attacks deal 12% more damage. Shock Heavy Attacks hit nearby enemies for 100% of the damage dealt to the main target. Frost Heavy Attacks taunt the enemy to attack you for 15 seconds and grant a shield which absorbs 699 damage. Also, blocking consumes magicka instead of stamina if a frost staff is equipped. Passive
38 Impulse

Inflicts 618 Magic Damage to enemies within 6 meters of you. 3240 Magicka
Morph Option 1 Elemental Ring Target the center of damage at a location up to 28 meters away instead of centered upon yourself. 3240 Magicka
Morph Option 2 Pulsar Also afflicts with Minor Mangle for 33 seconds. 3240 Magicka
41 Destruction Expert Restores 1800 Magicka if a Destruction Staff ability kills. Passive
46 Ancient Knowledge II A flame staff increases damage with single-target abilities by 10%. A lightning staff increases damage with Area of Effect abilities by 10%. A frost staff increases damage you block by 20% and reduces the cost of blocking by 36%. Passive
50 Destruction Expert II Restores 3600 Magicka if a Destruction Staff ability kills. Passive
50 Elemental Storm
(range: 28 meters,
radius: 8 meters)
Force winds to swirl into a storm that builds up over 2 seconds then deals 615 Magic Damage every 1 second for 7 seconds. 250 Ultimate
Morph Option 1 Elemental Rage Increases each tick of its 803 Magic Damage while also adding an elemental effect: Fiery Rage increases the damage by 10%; Thunderous Rage increases the duration by 2 seconds; Icy Rage immobilizes affected targets for 3 seconds. 250 Ultimate
Morph Option 2 Eye of the Storm Instead of forming at a target location the storm instead forms above you and follows you wherever you move. 250 Ultimate
